Original – Herb Spritz Packaging

Chipotle Spritz

Lately making trips to the grocery store have become a chore. It is always the same all, and nothing seems exciting. I remember having so much fun looking at the new products and packaging, but lately pretty much everything seems blah. To my surprise in the produce area on the supermarket today I found this tiny herb spritzers that I find original in its presentation and an alternative to buying fresh herbs that many times go to waste in your refrigerator.

Medicine Cabinet

We live in an apartment and space is limited. I dream of having a decent sized house where I have all the storage possible for having all our stuff organized. Don’t you feel that when you know where everything is, you are just more efficient? Since we don’t own a house yet but still need to be organized I decided to tackle our medicine cabinet area once and for all. We headed to The Container Store and bought this narrow stacking open containers that are perfect for the tiny area we have. This were the steps I followed: 1. Removed everything from the cabinet. 2. Grouped things into categories. 3.Tossed anything that was past due 4.Fill new containers in groupings and tada!

Pretend Play

On Sunday we headed to NYC for Kai’s birthday party. As we walked only a few blocks to the venue I saw this great boyish themed graffiti in a door. Perfect opportunity for me to play pretend professional photographer. I enjoyed taking some snapshots of my big boy. Isn’t he the most handsome 4 year old? , Mama drools.

I want this…

When you are a mom of two little ones and most of your time is spent chasing and taking care of them it is very easy to loose any piece of jewelery on. I am very picky in the materials I choose and do not like “fantasy/fashion” pieces. That’s why when I found this company “Small Family” from Spain I got very excited. Not only they make high quality braceletes, necklaces, in silver, gold, leather etc but they have the style of jewelery I can wear all day from playdate in the park to fancy dinner with my husband a Saturday night. Have a look for yourself.

Easter 2012

My friend Joanne started a tradition 4 years ago inviting us over every Good Friday to do some egg coloring with the kids. The little ones have fun with the dies, eggs and stickers and the moms have a little chat. Since everything is better when food is around I thought it would be nice to bring some nest cupcakes to share and eat afterwards.Happy Easter. Felices Pascuas.

Face Changes

Hello Everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! As you can see I have changed the appearance of my blog. I felt it really needed 2 columns for easier access to additional information. Even though it is a good theme, I feel all the “copy” under my pictures has not transitioned that well in the process. Bear with me while I fix all this little details so the site looks nice and clean. Creating a custom look for The Packaging Mama blog is something I really have in my plans and hope I can achieve that goal in the near future.
I would like to let you know that finally I opened an Instagram account and a Twitter account. So excited! Where I will be posting pics and other news. Thanks again for your support.

Home Sweet Home

Maiz Morado Peruano - Peruvian Purple Corn

Hola Again! I have been MIA for a month now due to a great summer family vacation in Peru, my home country. Needless to say we had a great time with our family and best friends. Weather was awesome, 80F’s and sunny most of the days with a cool breeze. Food was just amazing, so tasty! We were very lucky to Baptize our daughter with the archbishop of Arequipa, good friend of ours and to live exciting and adventurous moments. You must be asking yourself why didn’t I blog while overseas? I thought of that every day, but needed to disconnect a bit of my cybernetic side but I am glad to be back. Thank you for being here.

Chinese Inspired – Savory Rice Podridge (congee)

"My" version of Congee as Baby Food

One of the easiest and yummiest meals I make for my 1 year old is “Congee”. If you have never had it at a “Dim Sum” (Chinese Brunch) it is a simple thick soup made out of white rice, salt, water and a protein in my case I use chicken (breast or thighs), I make a adding one veggie, usually baby carrots and that is it. To prepare I just put all ingredients in a pan and once it boils I simmer the soup until the rice becomes tender, puff and the consistency is like a podridge. One of the benefits of this meal is that has carbs, proteins and veggies! it is easy for your kid to eat and easy for mama to make. Give it a try! (will post the picture with all the mish mash later)

Valentines State of Mind

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!

Tomorrow is Valentines Day and I am planning to bake some heart-shaped sugar cookies to bring over to my friends. I hope all goes well and that the royal icing comes out smooth and shiny. If you haven’t started yet thinking what to do and are in a need of quick ideas for your loved ones here are some links to sites that are very inspirational. This make me wish and dream for more hours in the day to carry out such creative treats. Oh and why a cupcake for this post? Pick of the week – Wasabi Seaweed Snack

Wasabi Roasted Packaging

I am always in the look for healthy snacks and since I love the Japanese original ones, I thought Trader Joe’s would be as same as delicious but I got so excited when I saw this at the store that I forgot to read it was “wasabi” flavored. This are great if you like a kick of hot pepper. Unfortunately for me not a spicy mama here.
